Barbolian Garlic
April 19, 2008 update: What’s the deal here — SNOW and HAIL in APRIL in the Pacific Northwest?!?! This is UNHEARD of! The garlic is weathering it out, although I notice the tips have turned a bit yellow.
I am convinced now that this phenomenon is because it gets a big growth spurt in the early spring, which is more susceptible to frost and cold weather.

March 6, 2008 update: A new post is entered on the Barbolian Fields site about how to scare away moles, voles, groundhogs, and other critters. I’ve had both fun and success with this method.

February 17, 2008 update:
Hey everyone! I have moved this to a new blog, called Barbolian Fields. I will be posting info on growing garlic, herbs, and other good things happening on our back acre.
Hope you enjoy!

I am not sure when my love affair with garlic began, but I started growing it in earnest in 1976 and have been growing it ever since. There are just too many interesting varieties to stop at just one or two. My motto has always been, “Live dangerously! Love garlic!”
