Such a simple thing – to tell someone you are thinking of them. And a letter can be read over and over. Anyone who complains about the rising costs of postage is not appreciating its true value. Priceless. Thank you, Mark, for visiting my site.

Hi Keith – I see we connect on several levels. I started my blythe’s blog to tell the story of my mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s, but I found it very difficult to write about. She, too, had amazing courage and strength – a real survivor. Helping her die was the most important thing I’ve ever done. Your Gran sounds pretty amazing – “a farmer in a man’s world” – love it! And marrying someone old enough to be her father must have been scandalous! What a great example! Hang on to those images!

My Gran had dementia, it was sad to see her decline in her latter days, but my memories are of the good times, she was such a strong independent character, a farmer in a ‘man’s world’ and she challenged society’s conventions by marrying a man 30 years older than herself. Whenever I think of her I can feel her strength coming through to me, it’s a great support.
